A Practical Guide: Code Compliant Restroom Applications
Restroom doors increasingly require automatic operators in a
wide variety of buildings. The access of washrooms for people with disabilities
is a prime concern for building managers; the automatic door industry has
responded with new technologies specifically designed to maximize the
effectiveness of automatic restroom door applications.
Camden Door Controls has created a practical guide for
equipment specifiers and system installers, to help you optimize your automatic
restroom door applications. The guide is entitled, "Code Compliant Control of Automatic Doors in Restroom Applications".
Below, you will find a summary of each section in the guide.
Summary of
Codes
Restroom applications must comply with a variety of
standards and codes. Barrier-free access to buildings and restrooms is mandated
across North America.
In the U.S.A., buildings must meet ADA and ANSI standards,
along with the requirements of the individual state. In Canada, the National
Building Code forms the basis for all provincial building codes, making
Canadian requirements for automatic doors fairly consistent across the country.
Restroom
Control System Components
This section provides a list of each of the control,
activation, and annunciation components that can be used in restroom
applications. Camden provides information on each component, and outlines which
restroom
control kits are available for each design option.
Restroom
Control Applications
Starting with basic system design and ending with systems
that include multiple entry doors and an "Assistance Required" notification,
this section delivers a full range of system design options for washroom door
control. It also lists which components could be used to achieve each option.
Project
Specifications
Each bathroom control system is accompanied by a complete
set of product specifications. Instructions obtaining copies of these are found
in the guide.
Point to
Point Wiring Diagrams
The final section of the guide gives point to point wiring
diagrams, using the CX-33
Advanced Logic Control Relay and CX-EMF-2
Multi-Function Relay.
This guide is an excellent overview of bathroom control
applications, and is a handy guide for choosing the right set of products for
your next restroom project.
